A Letter to the PWS Community from Neurocrine Biosciences

Neurocrine Biosciences, which acquired Soleno Therapeutics (maker of VYKAT® XR) this spring, has shared a letter introducing the company to the PWS community. In it, Neurocrine Biosciences CEO Kyle Gano reflects on the company’s nearly 35-year history developing treatments for underserved neurological, endocrine, and psychiatric conditions, and speaks to the responsibility the company has taken on as the new steward of VYKAT XR.

Looking ahead, Neurocrine announced plans to launch a new study in Q1 2027 focused on people with hyperphagia in PWS who also have complex health issues, including severe obesity, with results and learnings to be shared publicly once complete. The letter emphasizes an approach centered on following the evidence, listening to the community, and engaging openly with individuals living with PWS, caregivers, healthcare providers, and advocacy organizations, including PWSA | USA, FPWR, and IPWSO. Neurocrine also signals interest in exploring future research opportunities in PWS beyond hyperphagia, drawing on its expertise in endocrinology, psychiatry, neurology, and rare disease.
