PWS Roadshow Heading to Spokane, Washington, July 11: Summer Tour Breaks Isolation and Builds ‘Instant Villages’ Across the Northwest

The Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (PWSA) of Oregon and Washington is bringing its highly successful regional PWS Roadshow to Spokane on Saturday, July 11, 2026. This foundational gathering serves as a vital resource hub and community-building event for Northwest families navigating Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), a rare genetic disorder.

Because PWS is rare, families frequently face isolation, often traveling vast distances just to find specialized support. The PWS Roadshow is actively changing that narrative by establishing immediate, tight-knit local circles of permanent support right in these families’ backyards—including connecting with individuals and families who may have been missed by traditional outreach in the past.

The summer tour arrives in Spokane riding a wave of momentum and media attention from its previous stops:

  • Bellingham, WA: The landmark launch brought together local families where, in a profoundly moving moment, two attendees in their 30s met another individual living with PWS for the first time in their lives. The two instantly bonded and are now best friends who talk every day. A follow up article was in the national Newsbreak.com with a Bellingham tag.

  • Tri-Cities, WA: The tour successfully connected with families who had never experienced a PWS support network before, bringing in clinical experts from Soleno Therapeutics and PACE to discuss groundbreaking new treatments face-to-face and giving parents the priceless opportunity to swap firsthand experiences. Gingersnap photography was kind enough to provide professional photos to facilitate our outreach.

  • Bend, OR: The upcoming June 27 stop has already generated significant regional buzz, with advance coverage from The Source Weekly and a confirmed attendance from the Bend Tribune. This stop is set to bridge the gap between isolated Central Oregon families, advocacy leaders, and vital medical resources, ensuring no one is left behind.

The upcoming Spokane event will take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the DoubleTree by Hilton Spokane City Center (322 N Spokane Falls Ct). Attendance and resources are completely free for impacted families, who will receive specialized educational, behavioral, and nutritional guidance designed to help them navigate the complexities of the syndrome.

“The connections made on this tour are absolutely priceless,” said Vonnie Sheadel, President of PWSA of Oregon and Washington. “Providing life-changing resources is our goal, but seeing immediate, lifelong bonds form between these isolated families is the true success of the PWS Roadshow. Our community is growing rapidly, and people are experiencing close, meaningful communities right in their own backyards. We are building permanent villages of families and the providers who serve them across the Pacific Northwest.”

Following the Spokane stop, the summer tour will continue its outreach across the Pacific Northwest with subsequent stops planned for Medford, Albany, and Olympia. Details and registration updates can be found at Events | PWSA-OR-WA.ORG.
