Helping Families Navigate their PWS Journey

Some of our volunteers are front and center at events and fundraisers, speaking from podiums, in legislative offices, and with local news station. Other volunteers are there for the quieter moments, pouring the proverbial cup of tea for new families or showing up to work group meetings to help clarify the path of this organization.

Julie Casey, mom to Ryan (living with PWS), has offered more than 15 years of dedicated service to PWSA | USA. She has helped to create valuable resources for our community, to guide families interested in their schooling options and those wanting support for childcare. She brings experienced insight into monthly work groups for the communications department. And perhaps most importantly, and rewardingly, she volunteers her time as a parent mentor, for which we are truly grateful.

Julie has walked alongside countless families as they navigate the Prader-Willi syndrome journey, offering not only her knowledge and experience, but also genuine compassion and understanding. She has a remarkable way of making families feel seen, supported, and less alone during some of their most challenging moments. Her commitment, kindness, and steady presence have helped shape a stronger, more connected community.

Kristi Rickenbach, PWSA’s Parent Support Coordinator, nominated Julie for this Spotlight with words of gratitude for what she brings to this community. “Julie, your heart for others and the countless hours you’ve given have made a lasting difference, thank you for being such an important part of PWSAUSA and a true source of hope for so many families.”
