Summary:

The Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will guide and implement PWSA’s efforts to engage community stakeholders in PWSA’s mission. Working within the framework of the strategic plan the CES will translate objectives related to community engagement into programmatic initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing a comprehensive volunteer leadership program that meets the needs of the PWSA | USA community and covers a diverse group of volunteers. This individual works within the Family Support Department.  Core activities will include relationship building, partnership development with stakeholders and grass roots community volunteers. This individual is responsible for the execution of programs designed to advance PWSA | USA’s advocacy goals, and volunteerism in the PWS community.

  • This role is responsible for developing and implementing a volunteer leadership program
  • This role will work collaboratively with the management team to identify individuals who have the potential to be impactful volunteers
  • Provide ongoing support, training, and guidance for volunteers
  • Organize and execute volunteer recognition events
  • Contribute content for articles related to volunteerism and advocacy initiatives in the PWS community
  • Organize, participate in, and conduct trainings and webinars to build awareness and knowledge on topics relating to volunteerism and advocacy
  • Cultivate relationships to educate the PWS community, government entities (such as members of congress, FDA and NIH) about the unmet needs in the PWS community
  • Create and distribute monthly reports on program metrics on volunteer and advocacy participation
  • Works with the Director of Family Support to ensure that long and short-term strategic plans are established, attainable, measurable, and timely
  • Perform other duties as may be requested

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, non-profit management, or relevant experience
  • Exceptional communication skills, listening, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Experience in the creation of a volunteer leadership program, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Experience and knowledge of computer, software, and some database management (Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge)
  • Experience in social media platforms
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • Project Management experience

Summary:

The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for developing compelling content and executing impactful messaging that engages the PWSA | USA community.  This individual works within the Marketing & Development Department to bring life and voice to our brand by telling powerful stories that showcase the organization as a vital resource with significant community impact. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, digital/tech savvy, creative team member who is passionate about building a brand and culture of service to community. The role encompasses
content development, graphic design for digital, print, and web media, editorial support throughout the organization, as well as leadership in the development of year-round organizational communication strategy and input into overall Advancement efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for developing external marketing collateral, media and public relations, and online and social media presence to increase website traffic, stakeholder and community engagement, and brand awareness. This role contributes to the overall development and implementation of a comprehensive plan to promote the organization to key target audiences. This role establishes and executes a content marketing strategy and publishing schedule. As a member of the M&D team, the Marketing and Communications Specialist also promotes special events and donor stewardship.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive annual, (and monthly) communications
    calendars that utilizes the organization’s mission, branding, and messaging to tell its story,
    generate interest in PWSA, and ultimately create compelling “calls to action” to generate revenue and
    other resources to support the organization.
  • Coordinate and lead the monthly Editorial Committee meeting to ensure ongoing content is
    available for the weekly and quarterly e-newsletters.
  • Format, create, and deploy weekly and quarterly e-newsletters with input from staff and volunteers.
  • Design and content creation of year-end impact report.
  • Plan and manage publicity or promotional events, internal information programs, or public
    information programs for PWSA.
  • Provide input and expertise for the development of materials and execution of programs, campaigns, and other efforts designed to create awareness and demand in targeted markets.
  • Coordinate across PWSA departments to develop and execute communication strategies.
  • Review and analyze results of Sprout Social. Set metric goals, develop, and execute changes to improve effectiveness of communications strategy.
  • Ensure PWSA’s corporate image, identify, and branding are consistent throughout every facet of the organization.
  • Write interesting and effective press releases and prepare information for media kits.
  • Author and/or review content created by other departments for consistency, effectiveness, and with an editorial eye.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, non-
    profit management, or relevant experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the communications field, preferably in a nonprofit setting
  • Excellent communication skills, listening, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Experience and knowledge of computer, software, and some database management (Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge)
  • Proficiency in social media (apps and Sprout Social) and graphic design software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities.
