  •  PWSA (USA) has funded research since 1983.  Click here to view the history of grants awarded.

 Influencing government funding:

  • Support researchers by actively advocating in DC for NIH funding and other government funding to go to PWS research.

Bringing scientists together to promote research:

  • Sponsored a two-day meeting in the fall for experts in research on hyperphagia (uncontrollable appetite) to share current knowledge and identify and plan for future research.
  • Sponsor a Scientific Conference yearly that is the only PWS specific conference in the nation. This brings together top researchers and physicians in the field of PWS to share knowledge and brainstorm needed research.
  • Work with our two medical/research boards daily to collaborate on medical and research issues.

Supporting researchers:

  • Sharing research and medical information on PWS at medical conferences, on the web, and in the newsletter.
  • Announcing research projects and encouraging participation.
  •  Writing letters of support for appropriate PWS research.
