Logistic, familial, and behavioral factors related to exercise
in children with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS)
Researchers in the Kinesiology Department at California State University
Fullerton are investigating the logistic, familial, and behavioral factors
related to exercise or physical activity participation in children with PWS.
We intend to recruit a total of 40 parents of youth with PWS to participate
in 1-2 hours long focus groups in the Orange County or Los Angeles area. We
intend to conduct at least 5 focus groups with five parents each. Participants
will only attend one focus group (1-2 hours long). Participating
parents/caregivers will receive a gift certificate ($20) and will be compensated
for mileage to and from their house to the focus group location at 0.585 per
mile rate as of July 2008 and for parking fees if needed.
In addition, we are recruiting parents/caregivers of youth with PWS to
complete a mail-in survey addressing the same topic (logistic, familial, and
behavioral factors related to exercise or physical activity participation in
children with PWS). The completion time for the survey is estimated to be less
than 1 hour. For more information or to participate in any aspect of this study
(focus groups/and or mail-in survey), please contact Dr. Michele Mouttapa (714)
