Types, Length and Style of Articles

The Gathered View publishes letters, notes, news stories and announcements and articles for a readership of families, professionals and service providers. All submissions and suggestions for articles and features for The Gathered View are welcome. Length can vary, but generally should not be longer than 600-700 words. We ask that the writing be targeted to a lay audience and that technical terms be defined for the general readership.

The editors reserve the right to edit submissions for length and clarity. To assure that the meaning of a submission has not been inadvertently changed, particularly in the case of scientific or legal submissions, the editors may choose to send edited copy to the author when extensive cutting or editing have been necessary. This is not done for grammatical or style changes, however.

Only in rare instances will an author see page proofs. While suggestions are welcomed, no author will have control over headlines, illustrations, fonts, spacing and other production details.
