Lose-A-Thon: How to Participate 

Steps:

  1. Decide you want to lose weight or a percentage of weight and set your goals.

  2. Register with PWSA (USA) to participate in the PWSA (USA) Lose-A-Thon and create a plan to reach your goal by May 31. May is PWS Awareness Month!

  3. Send letters and a donation form to family, friends, colleagues and whoever else you choose asking for support in the form of donations. PWSA (USA) has already done the work for you by drafting a letter and donation form.

  4. Plan to give updates on your progress, which will be added to your web page!

  5. Collect donations and send them to PWSA (USA). Your supporters may give funds with an outright donation or a pledge to donate based on each pound or percentage of weight lost. Donations may be made on your personal Lose-A-Thon web page online, too!  

  6. Start your plan and begin losing weight and raising money for PWSA (USA).


Here’s What You Need To Know To Raise And Collect Funds:

Letter and Donation Form

Use either sample letter 1 or sample letter 2 and donation form to mail or e-mail to those on your list. You may prefer to create your own letter.

Collecting Donations and Pledges

After Lose-A-Thon ends on May 31, you can begin collecting on pledges and outstanding donations. You may want to print your “Incredible Loser” certificate (please enter needed information on the certificate before you print it) and include it with your pledge/donation form to let your donors know how much weight you lost.

 

Donations should be returned to YOU. Payments should be made payable to PWSA (USA).

 

Please make a copy of each donation, then send the originals in batches with a letter identifying that the donations came from you as part of your Lose-A-Thon effort to:

Please make every effort to submit your donations to PWSA (USA) by June 30.
