Physical Therapy Intervention for Individuals with PWS Booklet Picture Physical Therapy Intervention For Individuals With Prader-Willi Syndrome
by Maria Fragala, PT, Deirdre C. Mulcahy, M.S., CC-SLP; Center for Prader-Willi Syndrome and Related Disorders Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, MA. Robert H. Wharton, M.D., Karen Levine, Ph.D.,Co-Directors.

Physical therapy intervention is important for children with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS).  Low tone, decreased strength, motor planning problems, and delayed gross motor skills are common physical characteristics seen in children with PWS. Even though children with PWS have many similar physical characteristics, each child has individual needs.  Physical therapy intervention can address problem areas, and assist the child in attaining his/her aged-maximum functional abilities.  Physical therapy intervention will differ according to the problems identified, age of the child and goals of the child and his/her family.  This booklet provides general information about physical therapy intervention.
