| Still Hungry...
No Matter how much we do to improve the lives of individuals living
with Prader-Willi syndrome, we're still hungry for a cure.
And we won't stop until we get there.
Prader-Willi syndrome:
Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) affects 1 in 12,000 - 15,000 births.
Marked by a combination of a low metabolism and an insatiable desire
for food, those who have PWS are highly susceptible to morbid
obesity and associated life-threatening health issues such as heart
disease, sleep apnea, diabetes, and pulmonary disorders. There
are many other health aspects to the syndrome, as well.
The Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (USA) is an organization of
families and professionals working together to improve the lives of
people with PWS. We are focusing on:
 |
Research |
 |
Support |
 |
Education and Awareness |
 |
Advocacy |
|
 But, even
with the progress, we are still hungry for more:
 |
We're still hungry for a day
when PWS education and awareness are widespread and there
are no more preventable crises, |
 |
We're still hungry for earlier
diagnosis so children with PWS have the best chance
possible, |
 |
We're still hungry for a
treatment that suppresses the insatiable hunger, and |
 |
We're still hungry for a cure. |
