What Your Support Means
Thanks to the many families who put their hearts into this
effort in the past, PWSA (USA) funded research has
expanded understanding of PWS and furthered collaborative
efforts with other organizations to understand the syndrome.
With the help of donations received for research:
 |
We have more sophisticated and accurate testing for PWS. |
 |
We know weight control early in life may be
necessary for more than medical reasons. It is suspected
that early weight control and growth hormone will
improve brain development. |
 |
We have more proof that the satiety problems with
PWS are not psychological, but physiological in nature.
|
 |
We should be able to identify more accurately what
drugs work better - and as important - in what dosage
for PWS through studying why there is such a variability
in our population in the response to psychotropic
medications. |
 |
We are supporting the collaboration of researchers
who focus on other syndromes dealing with the insatiable
appetite to work together to research possible common
links between the syndromes that may lead to treatment
options to combat the hunger. |
