Coordinate with early intervention (EI)
managers to develop a training about PWS to EI groups. Some suggest training in
manageable groups of 10-20 at a time. Hold as many educational trainings as you
can. Ideas you can use:
Show a PWSA (USA) DVD that
explains PWS (we have videos that are less than 10 minutes long)
Talk about kids with PWS and bring
your child to put a face to PWS
Work in conjunction with other
syndrome groups in town to do a training on several syndromes
At the end of the
education/training session, give a questionnaire to be sure they understood your
presentation and the syndrome. Maybe even provide a gift to the first one to
answer all questions correctly.
Connect with other parents in the
system and advocates for IEP training help
